Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how RoleMapr ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our website and services at rolemapr.in and rolemapr.com, our mobile app and our browser extension (the "Platform"). By using RoleMapr, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information - username, email address, and a securely hashed password when you sign up.

Profile information - details you choose to add such as skills, experience, education, and career preferences.

Resume data - the PDF resume(s) you upload, and information extracted from them (skills, experience, contact details) for matching and analysis.

CVs checked on our homepage - a CV uploaded through the free CV check on our homepage, the information extracted from it, and the email address it is saved under (see section 3).

Mentor information - if you apply to be a mentor: the name, headline, experience, qualifications, expertise, LinkedIn, GitHub and other links, optional photo, session types and prices, and the free times you add.

Mentorship sessions - the sessions you request or hold (date, time, session type, price, the note a candidate adds, whether they shared their resume, the meeting link), cancellations, problem reports, ratings and reviews, and the screenshot a mentor uploads as proof that a session took place.

Payout details (mentors) - the bank account holder name, bank, IFSC, account number and optional UPI ID a mentor adds to be paid. The account number and UPI ID are stored encrypted, shown back to the mentor only as the last 4 digits, and seen in full only by RoleMapr staff making a payout (each view is logged).

Payments for sessions - when a candidate pays for a mentorship session, the payment is processed by our payment partner (Cashfree); we keep the order and refund records, not card or bank details.

Learning Hub - when you open a course or programme on its provider's website, we count the click for that listing (the listing and the time - not who clicked). Courses you mark as completed are added to the Certifications on your profile. Providers and affiliate networks receive the click on their own link under their own privacy policies; we don't send them your RoleMapr profile. Many Learning Hub links are affiliate or partner links: RoleMapr may earn a commission when you enrol through them, at no extra cost to you (see section 7B of our Terms & Conditions).

Career goal - which of your desired roles is your goal on the dashboard, the RoleMapr role it is matched to (or the closest one you pick), your target date, and a daily record of your readiness for that role and your CV score, used to show your plan and your weekly and monthly progress. Skills you mark as learned there are added to the skills on your profile. Your goal itself is not shown to recruiters; a mentor sees it only if you choose to share it when booking a session (see section 5).

Usage data - pages visited, jobs viewed/saved, applications tracked, search queries, and similar activity within the Platform.

Technical data - IP address, browser type, and device information, used for security (e.g. rate limiting, fraud prevention) and diagnostics.

2. How We Use Your Information

• ▸To create and manage your account, including email verification and password reset.
• ▸To match your resume against job listings and compute skill-gap insights.
• ▸To track your job applications and personalise your dashboard.
• ▸To show your career goal - how ready you are, a plan to your target date, next steps and your progress - and to email you your goal progress once a month, which you can turn off by switching off email notifications in Settings.
• ▸To send you transactional emails (verification, password reset, security alerts) - we do not send marketing emails without your consent.
• ▸To review mentor applications, run mentorship bookings (requests, reminders, confirmation) and resolve reported problems with sessions.
• ▸To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
• ▸To maintain and improve the Platform's features and performance.

3. Resume Processing & Visibility to Recruiters

Uploaded resumes are validated (file type and size) and processed on our servers to extract text, skills, experience, education, projects, certifications and contact details. The resume file and the extracted data are stored securely.

Your profile is visible to recruiters. Recruiters who hire on RoleMapr can see your candidate profile - the details extracted from your resume and any you add yourself - and can view and download your resume. This is on by default; you can turn it off at any time on your Profile page (Visible to recruiters). Details that only you can provide, such as your current and expected salary and notice period, are shown only after you add them.

CVs checked on our homepage, without an account. When a CV is uploaded through the free CV check on our homepage, we save it and create a RoleMapr candidate profile under the email address written in the CV (or the email entered, if the CV has none). That profile and CV are visible to recruiters on RoleMapr straight away, even if no account is ever created, and are kept until they are removed. We email that address to let its owner know, with a link to set a password and manage the profile, and a link to remove the CV. Please upload only your own CV. If a CV with your email was added without your permission, use the removal link in that email or contact admin@rolemapr.in and we will delete it.

Easy Apply with RoleMapr (browser extension). If you install our browser extension and connect it to your account, it fills job-application forms with details from your RoleMapr profile - including your "Application answers" (such as work authorisation, notice period, salary and, only if you set them, voluntary diversity answers, date of birth and criminal-record answer) - and attaches your current CV, only on the page you are looking at and only when you click it. It reads your profile from RoleMapr at that moment and does not keep a copy; it stores only its connection token. Application answers are used only for your own forms and are never shown to recruiters. With "Fill & Submit", it submits the application after a countdown you can cancel, and sends the job's title, company and address to RoleMapr to add it to your application tracker. It never gets past CAPTCHA checks, and ticks consent or declaration boxes only if you turn that permission on in your profile. It does not read or record the other sites you visit. You can disconnect it at any time, which immediately stops its access.

Limited use of data handled by the extension. The data the extension handles - your connection token, the profile details, application answers and CV it fills in, and the title, company and address of jobs you apply to - is used only to fill your job applications and keep your RoleMapr application tracker up to date. We do not sell it or transfer it to third parties, except the service providers listed in section 5 that help us run RoleMapr, or where the law requires it. We do not use or transfer it for any purpose unrelated to that single purpose, including advertising, and we do not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. Our people do not read it except with your permission, for security purposes, or to comply with the law. Our use of information received through the extension follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements, and the Microsoft Edge Add-ons developer policies.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in (authentication tokens) and to remember your theme preference (light/dark). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:

• ▸Recruiters on RoleMapr, who can see candidate profiles and resumes as described in section 3.
• ▸Mentors and candidates in a session. An approved mentor's profile (including photo, links and session counts) is visible to signed-in users. When a candidate requests a session, the mentor sees the candidate's name, the session details and the note they add - and, only if the candidate chooses to share it, their current resume, until 7 days after the session, and their career goal (the role, experience level, readiness, target date and the next skills they plan to learn, as it was when they booked); the meeting link is shared with the candidate once the mentor accepts. A candidate's rating and review is shown on the mentor's profile with their first name only. A session's screenshot is visible only to its mentor and candidate, and to RoleMapr staff reviewing a report. Mentor-only accounts are never shown to recruiters.
• ▸Service providers who help us operate the Platform - for example, our email-delivery provider (for verification and password-reset emails), our hosting/database infrastructure provider, and Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that CV uploads on our homepage come from a real person.
• ▸Payment processors, if and when you purchase a paid subscription - payment details are handled by the processor and are not stored on our servers.
• ▸Legal authorities, if required to comply with applicable law, regulation, or a valid legal process.

6. Data Security

• ▸Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing - we never store your password in plain text.
• ▸All traffic to RoleMapr is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
• ▸Uploaded files are validated and size-limited before processing to protect against malicious files.
• ▸Access to user data is restricted to systems and personnel that need it to operate the Platform.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data, profile, and resumes for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, which removes your profile, resumes, applications, and other personal data from our active systems. A CV checked on our homepage without an account is kept, and stays visible to recruiters, until it is removed with the link in our email, until its owner creates an account and deletes it, or until you ask us to remove it. When an account is permanently deleted, its mentor profile, photo, sessions and session screenshots are deleted with it.

8. Your Rights

• ▸Access and update your profile information at any time from your dashboard.
• ▸Download or remove your resume(s) whenever you choose.
• ▸Hide your profile from recruiters at any time from your Profile page.
• ▸Remove a CV that was checked on our homepage under your email, using the link in the email we sent, or by contacting us.
• ▸Request a copy of, or correction to, your personal data by emailing admin@rolemapr.in.
• ▸Permanently delete your account and associated data via Settings.

9. Children's Privacy

RoleMapr is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Platform or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
